This was my first ever album from Mika (Note: It’s not that British dude, though his curly hair is very cute).
I’m glad this is my first. +)
The opening track, Sakurairo Mau Koro is so nostalgic.
The opening melody in piano. Notice how Mika’s voice is very gentle in the track. It really expresses the emotions of the song.

You have to watch the video for this song.
I cry every single time I watch it. Not sure about the hormones in my body but it’s definitely very touching.
The next track cannot be more beautiful.
Personally, I find this track to be carefully crafted and artistically pieced together. It’s a very mystical track and Mika’s vocals here are extraordinarily soft and subtle.
The violins on this track is by Hakase Taro and it’s just amazing. You have to watch the LIVE performance!!!
Listen to it on a calm, peaceful night. =)
Hi no Tori has really weird lyrics to it. But I loved the cover art for this single. I’m pretty into Naruto and the bandages on her legs really intrigued me. =) The PV is very beautiful, with Mika taking on different roles and looks. But like I said, it’s a bit strange so I can’t really say I like it a lot. =|
Kumo no Ito is somewhat the same as Hi no Tori in terms of its ambiguity. If you read the lyrics carefully, it’s really deep. The start sounds a bit creepy but there after, it slowly builds up to the chorus, it’s a totally different music you’re hearing. I think it’s pretty relevant to the theme of creepy crawlies. =)
Rocking Horse! Wow. To be honest, the first time I heard it, I was had the face as if I was told that I have to eat broccolis for the rest of my life. After a fair few listens, it has definitely grow on me.
It’s a fun song!! It’s about a pair of Vivienne Westwood shoes and, in case you didn’t know, is her favourite brand.
But no money nobody knows yume wa fukuramu
Not truth no education oh my god, I fed up myself
That two lines is enough to get me going!
Carrot & Whip is a laid back song with funny lyrics sprouting here and there.
It’s so cute really. And I enjoy Mika performing this during her LET’S MUSIC TOUR in 2005. *gosh it was in 2005. 3 YEARS AGO!* Go read the lyrics translation over at Cherry Blossom Gardens, when I say it’s funny, it’s funny.
Shadows of You is a part English, part Japanese song. Sad to say, I really dislike this song no matter how many times I’ve told myself to give this song another chance which I do because it’s Mika and this album rocks.
I dunno, maybe it has something to do with the rhythm or the lyrics maybe.
LEGEND!!! Ah, I’d say I prefer the original version on the Single but this isn’t bad at all. Mika’s vocals is almost a whisper and  I LOVE IT. I really like the last line of the song, ‘夢で会いましょう’, ‘May we meet in the dream’.
I will put Hemlock and Carrot & Whip together. They are both so feel good and laid back songs. It’s the kind of songs where you can listen to and really not care about anything else. And it doesn’t hurt that Hemlock is slightly over 6 mins!
SEVEN, the song that started it all. It’s Jazz, it’s catchy, it’s sexy. It’s COOL! woot~
If it wasn’t for this song, I wouldn’t have know Mika Nakashima at all. I think Mika has a thing for singing like a whisper. It’s… OMG. Yup.
fake is another genre of Jazz that totally opposite to SEVEN. It’s those that you hear very often at bars and pubs. Yet again, hot! hot! hot!!!
I would say, Fed Up was her first take to the Rock genre before GLAMOROUS SKY. And what’s so surprising is that it started out so soft with pianos only and it suddenly bursts into full blaaaaast rock in the chorus. I can so totally feel the fustration in it. And it’s good! She can really pull it off, she can pull off any genre really.
And we finally come to the last track, which I have named it the ‘Bestest Sad Song Of All Time’, Hitori.
It’s my most played track for a reason and the reason is in the simplicity of the song, Mika’s amazing vocals and its most touching lyrics. *Sorry for the repeating words. My vocab is pretty limited as I’ve known*
It’s really emotional for me somehow. I’m a very emo-y person and I’m a sucker for tragic stuff. *Counts the number of super sad movies I’ve watched and how many times have I got sick because I’ve cried like mad*
And what makes it perfect is the PV. The concept is great – black and white, spells ALONE all over the place, it’s so beautiful at the same time, slow-paced, the introduction, EVERYTHING WAS EXECUTED PERFECTLY.
It’s also the first single I ever bought. That’s how much I like this song.
Anything sad and tragic, I’m in for it.
=)
On a more personal note, I’m raging a stupid battle with school work. Because I’m like the only one worrying for this and that and my other group members are just shaking their legs off.
What for? What for?
Let’s just all get screwed together really.
Blah.
